It's Always Something...

If it's not one thing, it's another. I even went looking for a video clip of Gilda Radner as Roseanne Rosanna Danna saying that to post it here, but couldn't locate it anywhere! That should give you an idea of the kind of day I'm having.

I'm feeling better, but my plumbing is shot. No, not my plumbing, but the plumbing in my house!

In the past two months, I've had the main line snaked twice. The first time (to save $ by not calling a real plumber), my handyman rented a heavy duty snake from Home Depot, and ran it through the line, and pulled out a lot of gunk. I believe that's the technical term for all the, er, gunk that resides in those pipes.

All seemed fine. Until the next time I put cantaloupe rinds down the garbage disposal and they emerged the next day through my shower floor drain. Hmmm.

So, I decided to call Roto-Rooter (that's the name, and away go troubles down the drain). Unfortunately, the guy told me I'd probably have to have the pipes replaced between my clean out and the city clean out at the street. But I hoped for the best.

Perhaps my first mistake of the day was running the washing machine and then taking a shower, just as my daughter returned home from school this afternoon and, well, had an upset stomach.

What came out of her soon followed the same route that those melon rinds traveled not too long ago. Needless to say, my bathroom is not a pleasant place at the moment.

While waiting for the water level to drop so my bathroom floor can drain, I'm preparing for tonight's show....

Thursday night is usually a bit of a cake walk for me. Christy Harvey, from the Center for American Progress, joins me in the first hour, and she always has more stories to cover than we have time for.

And John Fugelsang is my standing Thursday night guest in the second hour...

Well, Fugelsang is flying from NY to Jacksonville tonight; hopefully he'll land and get to a phone in time for some of that hour (no delays, please!). And I just got an email from Christy, who lives in Alaska these days, that there's a massive auto pile up, and she might be stranded and unable to join us tonight.

Oh, we'll have a show regardless. But at 10:05pm, I don't know what will happen at 11... I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I hope you'll join me by listening (click here for the live stream), calling at 866-303-2270, and/or joining in the live chat here.

I'm now a fan! Thanks to all of your hard work. Because you're one of the edgier Air America hosts remaining, I make it my business to listen to you every night.
